News: IMPORTANT NEWS - On-line PCT check report now ready

A BPT PCT check report has been created for each hospital and is now available on line for review and amendment. Unfortunately the process of matching records in the NHFD to responsible PCTs using the NHS number was delayed due to major technical issues experienced by the NHS Information Centre for Health and Social care (NHS IC) with the Demographic Batch Service (DBS). As a consequence, the process for validating the returned dataset will have to be carried out in a much reduced timeframe to minimise the delay for payment – the deadline for resolution of the unmatched records is 9th September 2010.

It is imperative that ALL patients are linked to a PCT to enable payment for those that reach the criteria. PCTs need also to see patients who have not met the criteria to inform their commissioning strategies.

Please follow the steps laid out below to access this report:

· Choose Reports in the menu to the right of your screen
· Choose BPT PCT check
· All patients from Quarter 1, 2010/2011 will appear .
· Choose Unrecorded PCTs only at the top of your screen (use drop down box and choose Yes)
· All patients not matched to a PCT will appear
· Check NHS number correct
· Click on patient name
· Click Edit
· Insert missing PCT from the drop down menu provided
· Choose Save

The record automatically populates the PCT report once the PCT has been entered and saved.

Reasons for unmatched records:

o Patient dead
o Incorrect or invalid NHS number
o Record entered after data pulled for matching

We did expect to have some teething problems in what is a completely new, untried process for all concerned, however we do appreciate this does put you under some pressure and apologise for this. Rest assured all future reports will adhere to the reporting timelines laid out in the BPT User Guide.
