News: Can you help colleagues at Leeds General Infirmary with a research project concerning THR's for displaced intracapsular fractures?
"My name is Jonathan Lamb. I am an orthopaedic trainee from Leeds. I am trying to set up a research project under the supervision of Mr Whitwell (Hip/trauma surgeon) at Leeds General Infirmary. We are trying to identify service factors which may influence the provision of total hip replacement for hip fractures (Chart 15 – Total hip replacement for displaced intracapsular fractures). Currently there is a large disparity between the performance of the best and worst trusts, but little information about why this might be.
Our aim is to try to find factors which enable the best performing trusts to offer total hip replacements to eligible patients. In this way we can inform the worst performing trusts about how best to improve their practice.
I have created a short survey proforma (completion time 1-2 mins) to try and identify service factors which might help to explain the observed differences. The survey involves 9 questions regarding the patient pathway of a patient who may be eligible for total hip replacement and also questions regarding the availability of hip replacement surgeons.
Here is a link to the on-line survey proforma:

I would be most grateful if you could quickly complete the on-line survey.
Many thanks
